Master Degree in Business Intelligence and Organizations Management of HEM Business School

HEM Business School organizes the business Intelligence and Organization Management Master in cooperation of the IAE de Bordeaux - Montesquieu Bordeaux IV University.

The training ends, through a system of equivalence, with a double graduation.

Objectives

An interdisciplinary and inter-university approach
Business intelligence is interdisciplinary. The Master degree in business intelligence and organizations management involves five subjects:

  • Corporate Management (strategy, finance, marketing ...)
  • Communication (crisis communication, influence management, ...)
  • Social psychology (influence, negotiation, ...)
  • Computer Sciences (the Internet watch construction, systems security, databases ...).
  • Legal Sciences (law of intellectual property, social law, corporate law, information law).

Company Centered Training

Economic intelligence is not an academic discipline in the strict sense, the Master degree in business intelligence and organizations’ management is largely open for practitioners and professionals able to develop a practical and operational approach. Particular emphasis is put on the transmission of professional expertise and feedback from the field.

A High Level of   NTIC Expertise

Information control and communication technology (ICT) is essential to support the economic intelligence process. Therefore, participants of the Master degree in business intelligence and organizations’ management develop real information skills enabling them to offer a real added value to the company, including in information systems management.

The Master Degree in Business Intelligence and Organizations’ Management is an innovative training that offers many advantages:

Who should attend?

It addresses a wide audience.
Indeed, the Master is designed for students holding a baccalaureate degree +4 years studies (Master 1) in law, economics, management, information and communication, l information technology management, trade and human sciences or engineering. The master is also open to professionals with experience.

Organization

The master is designed for participants who are working. Classes take place on weekends, three weekends out of four.

12 hours of course are extended each weekend ; Seminars are distributed as follows:

  • Friday from 5 p.m. to 10 p.m.               5 hours
  • Saturday from 8:30 to 12:30                 4 hours
  • Saturday from 1:30 p.m. to 4:30 p.m.   3 hours

The program runs for 12 months and is made of six main modules, that is a total of 360 hours (outside evaluations and preparations for the report).

Final Research Project

 A final research project must be prepared by the participant on a topic of his/her choice and specialization, and accepted by the teaching team. The project is to be defended before a jury.

Teaching staff

The teaching team that extends the course is made of teachers-researchers from HEM Business School and IAE Bordeaux and, with high-level professional experience, and who work in business for national and international companies.

Assessment

The evaluation is based on a combination of, on the one hand, marks obtained for assignments in the form of work, projects to be made outside the classroom-seminars, presentations held in parallel with the course, participation, and, on the other hand, an examination mark awarded on the basis of a summary written exam covering the entire module. The mark of the module is composed as follows:

  • An average mark for projects prepared in class and outside the class. This mark represents 60%.
  • An overall mark of the module on the summary written exam. It represents 40%

The pass mark is 10/20 of the two averaged out marks.

Graduation Requirements

To obtain the Master degree in business Intelligence and Organizations Management, it is necessary to fulfill the following conditions:

  • An overall average which is superior or equal to 10/20 at the six modules.
  • No mark below 8/20 at any module.
  • A mark which is superior or equal to 12/20 for the final research project.

In case one of these three conditions is not met, participants may retake the failed modules during a catch up session.

The overall average obtained sets the distinction:

  • Overall average ≥ 15: Very good
  • Overall average ≥ 14: Good
  • Overall average ≥ 13: Fairly good

Selection of Candidates

Candidates are selected on the basis of two criteria:

  • Study case selected by a panel based on the evaluation of the candidate's training, his/her work experience, motivations and professional project.
  • An oral interview before a panel with a particular focus on the management culture, general culture, expression, communication and motivation.

Registration File

The application form must be filed with the HEM Business School Department of graduates and ongoing training. This file shall contain:

  • a certified copy of the I.D. card and the baccalaureate degree
  • a certified copy of university degree
  • Mark sheet of the second cycle of higher education
  • A certificate proving work experience
  • 5 passport photos
  • Cost of participation: DH 1000

Ongoing Training Seminars

In order to support the strategic and organizational changes as well as private companies and public administrations and to contribute to their development and that of their human capital, HEM Business School offers more or less short-term and non-degree ongoing training programs.

These courses target professionals, executives and business managers.
Courses are usually extended during the weekend or in the evening to adapt to the professional constraints of participants.
